I read the hide of the animals will be sold but what about the meat? I remember in the Bible time the priest would be able to eat the meat sacraficed to the Jewish god. I wonder if it is the religious leaders who is promoting this custom is benefiting from the sale of the hides and whatever is done with the meat?

Sucks
I had an Elder go off on my brother for using that word. My brother simple stated "That sure sucks, Brother Elder" in response to the Elder lamenting about his pool being damaged. The elder told us the word "sucks" means "chewing of the male apendage"
I mean for real, where do they get this stuff from? I can understand now as an adult that the word could be offensive but really to think that was what my brother meant was ludicrous.

2 Faced JWs and Thanksgiving
by minimus inmany jws enjoy turkey on thanksgiving day and are often discreet about their indulgences.
why be two faced?
why try to excuse it?.

I was listening to the radio this afternoon in Tampa for the show A cat name Moe. He was telling the audience his mother is a witness and his sibilings and himself were raised as witnesses. His mother never celebrated Thanksgiving while they were young but when her children grew up and left the organization she would have them all over on turkey day. She refuses to call it Thanksgiving but it has all the tradition for that day. Interesting to hear this DJ talk about it. That only shows how so many leave the organization when they grow up and how a simple gathering is viewed as wrong.

Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering and all the stuff you weren't allowed to play as a JW
by marmot inby nature i'm a total geek.
i read the lord of the rings for the first time in grade 3 and i would probably have had a 20-sided die hung around my neck if it weren't for the silly superstitious restrictions against playing rpgs among jws.
if anything they should encourage role playing games among the youth because it'll keep them virgins forever.

Back in the day, I had Bard's Tale on my Commodore 64. I figured since it wasn't called D&D I could play it. Eventually I was guilted into getting rid of it. :(
I loved the Commodore 64 and Bard's Tale. My father wasn't a JW but he banned us from playind D&D because he believed it to be a bad influence.
I stilled played D&D and other games at "wordly" kids house. I had a friend at the kingdom hall whose mother and father would find his D&D books and burn them. He had a job and paid for them but that is the life of a witness child.
I currently play neverwinter online. It is free to play.

Wal-Mart Workers Plan Huge Protest on Black Friday
by talesin inwal-mart, which pays a top wage of $12.00+ to its full-time employees, is under attack, once again, by its employees and those who would like to unionize them.. i can't speak to the usa, but here in canada, most wal-mart employees are not full time.
it is mostly a part-time employer, so zero benefits.
in my opinion, that makes the $12.00+ look a lot smaller when you envision the actual paycheque.

The benefits for part-time associates in Canada are comparable to USA with exception to the medical program. I don't have a "beef" with you. It is just I see so many comments about Walmart that are sound bites from the union and other liberal sources that have an agenda. I would love Walmart to change but the same approach that has been used for the last 30 years will not work.
As far as walmart employees staging protests. The truth is very few are actual walmart employees. The majority are PAID union members who are protesting. Now with that being said I do believe Walmart will close down any store that is unionize which has happened in the past.

"Wal-Mart, which pays a top wage of $12.00+ to its full-time employees,"
That is incorrect and your article you quoted doesn't provide any information except for the union staging its annual protest. This is nothing new as the UFCW has been trying to unionize Walmart since the 80's. Walmart has a paygrade system for their hourly employees. It ranges from a paygrade 1 to paygrade 7. The higher the paygrade the more money the employee makes and the higher their pay cap is. For example a paygrade 1 would typically have a pay cap or "top wage" of $15 an hour plus differential. A paygrade 7 would be around $17.85 plus differential. A differential is an additional pay per hour, for example $1.50 an hour for working overnights. Each store has its own starting pay and this affects the paycap. Walmart will claim an average pay of around $12.92 an hour. This is not an important number. What should be looked at is the Median pay which I would suspect to be much lower, perhaps under $10.00 an hour. High paid long term associates will skew the over all average. Walmart mangement team pay of course is much higher and I will be willing to post that if anyone is interested.
"It is mostly a part-time employer, so ZERO benefits."
If you are going to argue or debate it is important to have your facts correct.
Walmart also has a goal of 60% full-time and 40% part-time employee in their stores. Part-time associates also get benefits and even medical if they average 30 hours a week. Following benefits part-time employees receive.
Dental Insurance(for self only), Life Insurance, Medical (if work 30+ hours), 401k with 100% match for first 6%, 10% discount, quarterly bonus after six months of service, vacation pay, ect..
Also depending on hire date they may be grandfather in for other benefits like premium pay for working Sunday.
Walmart should pay more and can afford to pay more but it is important to state the truth when making an arguement.

Officer Wilson not indicted in killing of Michael Brown
by Simon inafter a thorough investigation and weighing of the evidence the grand jury has decided not to indict the officer.. the reaction so far seems as predicted - people refuse to accept that the result represents justice despite claims that is what they wanted.. there is now violence and vandalism, including gunshots.
let's hope the police contain the troublemakers.. .

It is so funny switching back and forth between foxnews and msnbc. They both are showing the same images but yet presenting it so differently. Watching MSNBC and the commentor was stating a car will catch on fire all the time in cities and this demonstration is now entering a point of calm. Point of calm? This was only 20 minutes after the announcement and a police car was on fire. The mayhem was just beginning. Then a building catches on fire and MSNBC Chris Hayes states well this is probably the work of one person. Then two more buildings catch on fire. Each time something happens MSNBC keeps making an excuse for the behaviour. I turned off the TV. I'm sure things will escalate further.

I have all the pre-requisite done for nursing (AnatomyI&II, Biology, ect...). I looked into the PA programs and USF in tampa was going to start one in 2015 but withdrew their provisional accreditation application. There are lots of nursing programs and a few PA programs available at private schools in my area. However they are very expensive (50k-100k) and I rather attend a regionally accredited college.
I will look into the VA and Red Cross. The VA was at my alma mater recently for a career fair.

I became employed with my current company after high school in 1995. I'm a manager and make decent income for the area I live ($65k). It provides for the basic and some extra. I have a wife and a daughter. My wife works part-time but that income is mainly for her to send back to family in the Philippines. I hate my Management position, but it is retail so it is either be a manager or make $8 an hour. I became very inactive in the JW religion at 18 and completly out at age 22. Leaving at an early age allowed me to explore a more normal life and therefore I did earn a Bachelors in Business at a state university.
I want to pursue a career in nursing. My college offers an accelerated BSN program that would only take 15 months. However it is highly competitive (500 applicants and they accept 30). The college also offers a MAT in special education for those with degrees in other fields. My father was a school teacher for 30 years and now has a comfortable retirement. The problem as most know is teachers make very little. In fact even with a Masters degree in a needed teaching field (Special Education, Math, Science) the starting pay is only $38,000 in my state. In some adjacent counties it is as low as 33k. The likely hood I would be accepted on my first application to the nursing program is remote. I really want a new career and in a field where I can help people. I'm just nervous to quit a job I held for 19 years that supports my family even though I hate every aspect of the position.
Anyone else made a career change and face similar anxieties?
